Job Description

Position Overview

We are currently looking for an Environmental Driller Assistant for one of our clients in the environmental consulting industry. Based in Fort St. John, this role supports the safe and efficient execution of drilling programs, working closely with a Lead Driller and field teams to complete projects professionally and on schedule. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently in field environments.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver professional, high-quality service to both internal teams and external clients
  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of drill rigs and associated equipment (e.g., skid steers, trucks, trailers)
  • Support setup and operation of drilling rigs, augers, and in-situ testing equipment
  • Assist with mobilizing and demobilizing equipment, including in remote or difficult-to-access locations
  • Install groundwater monitoring wells
  • Provide general support to the Lead Driller and field teams as required
  • Complete daily field documentation and reports
  • Review permits and project documentation as needed
  • Perform shop duties and general equipment upkeep
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety standards
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of drilling or screw-pile experience; environmental or geotechnical experience is preferred
  • Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  • Trailer endorsement (or willingness to obtain)
  • Physically capable of performing demanding field work, including lifting, kneeling, and navigating rugged terrain
  • Experience working in remote locations and in varying weather conditions (from -30°C to +30°C)
  • Willingness to travel and work in camp environments, primarily within the Peace River region
  • Strong work ethic with a proactive and self-motivated approach
  • Solid mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills; small equipment repair experience is an asset
  • Ability to safely load, tow, and secure trailers up to 30,000 lbs GVW
  • Required certifications: H2S, First Aid, Ground Disturbance
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety

Salary & Other Info

Pay: CA$30.00 - CA$39.00 per hour
