Job Description
Position Overview
We are currently looking for an Environmental Lead Driller for one of our clients in the environmental consulting industry. The Environmental Lead Driller plays a key role in ensuring drilling programs are carried out safely, efficiently, and to a high professional standard. This position collaborates closely with field crews, environmental specialists, and clients to execute project scopes successfully. The ideal candidate is a motivated self-starter with strong mechanical skills, the ability to troubleshoot in the field, and the confidence to lead and work independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver professional, high-quality service to clients and internal teams
- Operate and maintain drill rigs and related equipment, including skid steers, trucks, and trailers
- Lead the setup and operation of drill rigs, augers, and in-situ testing equipment
- Coordinate and support the mobilization and demobilization of equipment, including in remote or difficult-to-access locations
- Oversee and complete groundwater monitoring well installations
- Assist and lead field personnel as required to meet project objectives
- Accurately complete daily field reports and documentation
- Review project plans, permits, and related documentation prior to and during fieldwork
- Support shop operations and perform additional duties as needed
- Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and in good working order
- Enforce and comply with all health and safety standards and procedures
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 5 years of drilling or screw-pile experience, preferably within environmental or geotechnical applications
- Valid Class 3 Driver’s License with a clean driving record
- Trailer endorsement required
- Physically capable of performing demanding fieldwork, including lifting, kneeling, and working across uneven terrain
- Experience working in remote environments and varying conditions, including extreme cold (-30°C) and heat (+30°C)
- Willingness to work in camp-based settings and travel throughout the Peace River region
- Strong work ethic, with a proactive and self-motivated approach
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills; equipment repair experience is considered an asset
- Ability to safely secure, tow, load, and unload trailers up to 30,000 lbs GVW
- Required certifications: H2S Alive, First Aid, Ground Disturbance
- Demonstrated commitment to safety in all aspects of work
Salary & Other Info
Pay: CA$40.00 - CA$50.00 per hour
