About the Opportunity

We are currently hiring a Health & Safety Manager on behalf of one of our valued clients. This is an excellent opportunity for a safety‑focused professional who thrives in field‑based and remote‑camp environments.

The Health & Safety Manager will champion safe work practices, support field operations, and help shape a strong safety culture across daily activities. This position is hands‑on, collaborative, and ideal for someone who excels at building trust and communicating with diverse teams.

Key Responsibilities

As the safety leader, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance, reducing risk, and supporting a culture where safety remains a top priority. Your responsibilities will include:

Program Leadership

  • Oversee and enhance company-wide health and safety systems.
  • Develop and update policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory and customer safety requirements.
  • Monitor legislative changes and implement necessary updates.

Field & Operational Support

  • Partner with supervisors, drivers, mechanics, and field personnel to identify and manage workplace hazards.
  • Conduct site, vehicle, shop, and workplace inspections.
  • Support operational teams with risk assessments and safety planning.
  • Assist in meeting Prime Contractor and site-specific safety obligations.

Incident Management

  • Lead investigations involving incidents, injuries, property damage, and near misses.
  • Determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Track trends and recommend preventative measures to reduce future risk.

Training & Employee Engagement

  • Coordinate onboarding, orientations, and ongoing safety training.
  • Deliver coaching and practical guidance to employees and supervisors.
  • Promote a positive and proactive approach to workplace safety.
  • Support emergency preparedness and response initiatives.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate safety records, certifications, audits, and documentation.
  • Administer safety software and reporting systems.
  • Coordinate both internal and external audits.
  • Monitor safety performance metrics and recommend improvements.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Health & Safety role.
  • Occupational Health & Safety certification, diploma, degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
  • Additional safety-related certifications are considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Experience in transportation, trucking, oil & gas, industrial services, or related industries.
  • Proven experience conducting incident investigations, workplace inspections, compliance audits, and hazard assessments.
  • Experience managing safety programs and regulatory compliance initiatives.
  • Exposure to fleet, field, shop, and operational environments.
  • Experience administering safety documentation, records management, and reporting systems.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage employees at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships, influence positive safety behaviours, and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and support employees through a practical, solutions-focused approach.
  • Capable of working independently while effectively managing competing priorities.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to identify risks and implement corrective actions.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement, accountability, and operational excellence

Salary & Other Info

Pay: CA$100,000.00 - CA$120,000.00 per annum
