About the Opportunity
On behalf of our client, we are recruiting for a Finance Administrator to join a well-established organization in Fort St. John, BC. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys a hands-on role supporting a variety of financial and administrative functions.
Working closely with the Office Manager, the Finance Administrator will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting daily accounting operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and assisting with financial reporting and analysis.
Please note: This is an on-site position located in Fort St. John, BC. Applicants must currently reside in Fort St. John or the immediate surrounding area. Relocation assistance is not available, and candidates requiring relocation will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations
- Maintain and oversee the accuracy of financial records and accounting transactions.
- Compile and prepare periodic financial reports for management review.
- Monitor account activity and ensure financial data is entered correctly and consistently.
- Reconcile banking transactions and various balance sheet accounts.
- Review financial records to identify errors, inconsistencies, or unusual transactions and take corrective action when required.
- Assist in completing monthly and annual accounting close processes.
Accounts Payable & Purchasing
- Manage invoice processing and coordinate timely payments to suppliers.
- Prepare and administer purchase orders while ensuring approval requirements are met.
- Maintain organized supplier records and purchasing documentation.
- Communicate with vendors to address payment inquiries and account concerns.
- Verify purchasing information against invoices and supporting documents.
Payroll & Compliance Support
- Assist with payroll-related administration and provide coverage when necessary.
- Prepare and submit required government remittances and statutory filings, including GST/PST, payroll deductions, WCB, and other regulatory obligations.
- Support adherence to established accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Coordinate documentation requests and provide assistance during financial reviews or audits.
Financial Reporting & Process Improvement
- Contribute to annual budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Prepare financial summaries and reports that support operational planning and business decisions.
- Evaluate existing workflows and recommend enhancements that improve efficiency, accuracy, and accountability.
- Participate in special projects and provide administrative support as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Diploma, certificate, or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- A minimum of five years of experience in an accounting, bookkeeping, or finance administration role.
- Experience managing multiple accounting functions within a business environment is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with Sage accounting software.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including report preparation and data analysis.
- Practical knowledge of reconciliations, payables processing, payroll support, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with Canadian accounting practices and compliance requirements.

Salary & Other Info
Pay: CA$35.00 - CA$40.00 per hour
