Job Description

Macenna, a leading recruiting firm, is seeking to hire a highly detail-oriented and tech-savvy Onsite Safety Officer for our valued client. This critical role is essential for maintaining a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with all regulatory guidelines and client-specific safety requirements. The successful candidate will oversee daily safety operations at active job sites and manage documentation and digital reporting using tools like SharePoint and Microsoft 365.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily inspections of job sites, conduct hazard assessments, and facilitate toolbox talks.
  • Ensure strict compliance with safety policies set forth by both the company and our clients.
  • Lead thorough investigations of any incidents and conduct root cause analyses.
  • Maintain and regularly update safety documentation on SharePoint and other digital platforms.
  • Assist field crews with safety planning, including Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs), Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and Emergency Response Plan (ERP) reviews.
  • Collaborate with project managers and client safety representatives to ensure alignment on safety practices.
  • Track, analyze, and report safety metrics and trends to management for continual improvement.
  • Facilitate the onboarding and orientation process for new personnel.
  • Engage in audits and regulatory inspections to uphold compliance standards.
  • Foster a proactive safety culture by providing coaching and mentorship.

Requirements

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum of NCSO or an equivalent safety certification.
  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) and SharePoint.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving abstract.
  • Proven ability to work independently and adjust to evolving site conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience in oil and gas construction or maintenance is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Indigenous engagement and operations in traditional territories is an asset.

Salary Information

Compensation:

  • Wage will be based on experience.
  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance.
