Job Description

Role Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and positive Accounting Coordinator to support the financial operations for our client in Northeast British Columbia. This role plays a key part in day-to-day accounting, cost tracking, and financial administration for all office operations and divisions, working closely with operations, project teams, and senior staff.

The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, experience in a resource-based or industrial environment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, and resolve financial discrepancies
  • Support corporate accountant with monthly financial reports and support budgeting and forecasting activities
  • Process payroll and ensure compliance with payroll regulations and deadlines
  • Assist the corporate accountant with the preparation of tax documents and regulatory filings
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and reports
  • Utilize accounting systems (e.g., Sage 50 or Sage Intacct) for data entry, reconciliation, and reporting
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline and improve financial processes
  • Provide guidance, training, or support to junior administrative staff as required

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting or finance experience, with exposure to accounts payable and receivable
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, IFRS, and financial regulations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Sage)
  • Professional, with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills

  • Proficiency with Sage 50 and/or Sage Intacct
  • Experience in a similar role within a mid-sized organization
  • Knowledge of tax regulations, filings, and compliance requirements
  • Familiarity with payroll processing and related legislation
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
  • Experience with Aimsio Field Operations & Service Mgmt Software an asset

Salary & Other Information

Pay: CA$38.00 - $42.00 per hour
